After a more than complicated start to the season, Claude Puel was finally laid off and ASSE is already working for his succession. Several options are on the table.

What had been expected for many weeks finally arrived on Sunday evening. After the heavy defeat against Rennes (0-5), the ASSE announced the dismissal of Claude Puel as a precaution. “This Sunday, the Executive Chairman of AS Saint-Étienne took the decision to withdraw from Mr. Claude Puel, until further notice, the management of the professional team”, explains the club through a statement. It must be said that the Greens have long delayed the deadline, in particular for economic reasons since the dismissal of Claude Puel , whose salary is around 225,000 € gross per month, did not facilitate the task. And every month saved on severance pay was significant. But the sporting situation became too serious and Claude Puel was therefore ousted and left the ASSE in last position in Ligue 1. The Greens made a first strong decision the day after the ouster of Castres since Loïc Perrin was appointed sports coordinator.

Dupraz and Guion in the race …

And one of the first responsibilities of the former captain of the ASSE will be to participate in the choice of the successor of Claude Puel . With this in mind, as revealed exclusively by le10sport.com, Pascal Dupraz is the favorite to sit on the club bench. A trend confirmed in its columns by L'Equipe, which adds that the arrival of Haut-Savoyard is particularly desired by Jean-François Soucasse . It must be said that the executive president of ASSE was general manager of Toulouse in March 2016 when Pascal Dupraz was called to the rescue to save the TFC in a catastrophic situation. That season, Toulouse was finally maintained in Ligue 1 thanks to the former coach of Evian who is also appreciated by Roland Romeyer . Nevertheless, according to L'Equipe, the president of the Executive Board of ASSE would rather opt for David Guion , also free from any contract.

… but the sale of the club can change everything

However, although the current leadership of ASSE wants to appoint a new coach as soon as possible, the sale of the club could change everything. Indeed, as explained by L'Equipe, the candidates for the takeover could well get involved in this file. And for good reason, if a coach were to land soon, the future owner of the ASSE could find himself managing a possible industrial tribunal with Claude Puel as well as '' to pay severance pay to his successor in order to set up his new project. Real additional that could cool investors in the race to take over the ASSE . This is the reason why the Greens are considering the idea of favoring the internal solution in order to ensure an interim at least until the truce. From this perspective, two pairs are in competition: Julien Sablé (assistant) and Jean-Luc Dogon (U19 coach) or Laurent Huard ( director of the training center) and Razik Nedder (reserve coach).
