Arrived on the ASSE bench a few days ago, Pascal Dupraz awaits reinforcements during the month of January. But the economic situation of the Greens poses a problem and forces the Forez club to consider only reinforcements at a lower cost, which complicates the task.

This winter, the AS Saint-Etienne will have to strengthen for two obvious reasons. The first is that the Forez club saw several important players slip away at the CAN which will considerably weaken the workforce of Pascal Dupraz during the month of January. The second obviously concerns the sporting situation of ASSE , the red lantern of Ligue 1 and which needs to strengthen its group to hope to stay in the elite. With this in mind, ASSE has already registered the arrival of Bakary Sako , which was contract-free, but more will have to be done. However, the economic situation of the club will not allow to work miracles as confided Bernard Lions. “There will be none (transfer compensation for the winter transfer window). […] To see players arrive at 4 or 5M €, that seems to me impossible taking into account the finances of the club, but also of the agreement made with the DNCG. The objective is to sell for around 15M € by June. They have a budget of just over € 200,000 (in terms of payroll). […] The priority in the winter transfer window is to get 4 to 5 players out … ”, assures the journalist of L'Equipe in the Sainté Night Club program on Twitch.

ASSE will have to sell … but Dupraz is waiting for reinforcements

With this in mind, Loïc Perrin had recently presented a clear project. “We will try to look for players in difficulty in larger clubs and who are looking for playing time. It's brand new and we wanted Pascal's opinion. It is up to us to study them so as not to be mistaken, ”confided the sports coordinator of the ASSE . It is therefore not a surprise to see the Greens turn to the bloated workforce of PSG where several players are lacking playing time like Sergio Rico and Colin Dagba , two players in the sights of the ASSE according to L'Equipe. However, although these two players will not be selected, PSG nevertheless hopes to recover financial compensation through paid loans while the Forez club can offer no better than free loans. Faced with this disagreement, ASSE continues to explore the market in particular in search of a new experienced goalkeeper. As revealed exclusively by le10sport.com, the Greens want to obtain the loan of Paul Bernardoni and discussions with Angers are progressing well. In other words, the ASSE intends to strengthen this winter, but we will have to juggle with very limited means.
