Despite its recent extension, several media in Spain have assured that Samuel Umtiti should leave FC Barcelona during this winter transfer window … but the truth would be quite different!

Nobody expected it. Very little used and in difficulty in recent seasons, Samuel Umtiti has extended his contract and is now linked to FC Barcelona until 2026. An extension accompanied by a reduction in salary non-negligible, which should allow the Barça finally be able to approve the transfer of Ferran Torres, who arrived from Manchester City for € 55m. In the wake of the Barcelona announcement, a large number of Catalan media have reported that the new contract does not in any way call into question a future departure, with Umtiti who may well be on loan for the second half of the season.
