Even before Xavi Hernandez was appointed coach of FC Barcelona last November, Barça's management committee would have checked the name of Dani Olmo in his shortlist. A last-minute offensive was even launched last August against RB Leipzig , to no avail. Not enough to dampen the ardor of the Joan Laporta administration, however, which would keep a watchful eye on the profile of the 23-year-old Spain international. And while Manchester City was cited as being a courtier of Olmo, Pep Guardiola set the record straight by the hour. “We are not interested in Dani Olmo. Having said that, I must say that he is an exceptional footballer. Very good. I admire that he had the courage to leave Barcelona and go to Croatia to develop his talent, and now he's playing in Leipzig ”. Manchester City coach told a press conference on Monday.
