In great difficulty this season, Barça de Xavi will be keen to strengthen during the next winter transfer window. But as explained by Mateu Alemany, FC Barcelona must downsize its workforce before being able to recruit, to stay in the nails of financial fair play.
In the financial red, and in particular because of the crisis caused by the coronavirus, FC Barcelona had to recruit smart during the last summer transfer window. To do this, Joan Laporta completed several blows at 0 €, namely Memphis Depay (OL), Sergio Agüero and Eric Garcia (Manchester City). However, these arrivals do not seem to be enough, since Barça totally missed his start to the season. While Xavi has just taken the place of Ronald Koeman on the Catalan bench, Joan Laporta should do what is necessary to strengthen its workforce in January. But as Mateu Alemany made it clear, Barça must get rid of some players, before they can recruit them.

“The winter transfer window? There are a lot of things to do, but immediately we have to deal with “fair play” (financial). We need to complete departures before we can recruit. We know very well which players we want, but first we have to respect financial fair play, ”explained Mateu Alemany, director of football for Barça, in Movistar Futbol microphone after the draw against Sevilla FC (1-1).
