Very little used this season, Samuel Umtiti has extended his contract with FC Barcelona until 2026 … but that should not rule out a possible departure!

Extend Umtiti to facilitate his departure
This extension hides something, however. On its official website, FC Barcelona first announced that the drop in the salary of Samuel Umtiti will allow the registration of Ferran Torres, the flagship recruit of Xavi this winter arriving from Manchester City for 55M €. Onda Cero also tells us that this new contract could facilitate the departure of Umtiti ! By lowering his salary, the 28-year-old defender could be a more realistic goal for a large number of previously quite reluctant clubs. La Cadena SER confirms this information as does COPE, who explain that Umtiti would still be pushed out at FC Barcelona . No transfer in sight, however! Catalan media explain that the Frenchman would be open to leaving Barça in this winter transfer window, but only in the form of a loan.
