Currently without a club, Youcef Belaïli could have joined OM a few years ago. The Algerian international had started discussions with the sports director at the time, Andoni Zubizarreta.

In search of reinforcements, the ASSE activated several avenues and in particular that leading to Youcef Belaïli. The 29-year-old left-winger is currently without a club after terminating his contract with Qatar SC and is looking for a new challenge in Europe. The player has reportedly offered his services to several teams, including OM . But according to Foot Mercato, Pablo Longoria would have refused this proposal. However, Belaïli could have taken the direction of Marseille a few seasons ago.

“There were first contacts with OM with Zubizarreta”

< p> According to Touhami.B, Andoni Zubizzareta had started discussions with Youcef Belaïli when he was sporting director of OM . “Belmadi calls him, he gives him a chance against Togo and he's settled on the left, starting. He then does the CAN on the left instead of Brahimi and he hits the mark. He scores against Senegal and Algeria wins CAN in 2019. After that, there were initial contacts with OM with Zubizarreta. There are negotiations but in the end he no longer answers him… The transfer window ends, he leaves for Saudi Arabia but Zubizarreta calls him back but he has already signed elsewhere… A really bizarre story ”confided the journalist of DZ Foot in remarks reported by Football Club Marseille.
