Currently on loan at Cagliari, Kevin Strootman could well return to Olympique Marseille sooner than expected.

Pablo Longoria is not at the end of his troubles. After last winter and his loan to Genoa, the president of Olympique de Marseille had found a new solution for Kevin Strootman, who joined Cagliari during the last summer transfer window. A new loan without a purchase option, which however obliges the OM to support a large part of the salary of the players, who earn more than 6M € per year until 2023. However, the Sardinian adventure of Strootman is not going very well. Already last November, La Gazzetta dello Sport evoked the desire of Cagliari to break this loan and therefore send the player to OM . A possibility that is confirmed, since L’Équipe has recently confirmed the difficulties encountered by Strootman at his club.

Cagliari leaders want to get rid of Strootman

It’s Tuttosport’s turn to address this issue. This Wednesday, the Italian daily tells us that Walter Mazzarri is still counting on Kevin Strootman, who is only due to return in February after an arthroscopy of his left knee undergone in early December. Rather, it would be the leaders of Cagliari who would like to get rid of the middle of OM , which would have been squarely invited to find a new club during the winter transfer window.
