The Italian press has relaunched the soap opera on the sale of OM by evoking a possible interest of the PIF. On Tuesday, the powerful Saudi investment fund spoke out on the possible takeover of European clubs.
The soap opera on the sale of the OM is off again. Financial advisor and connoisseur of the Middle East, Andrea Zanon announced that the PIF could soon get their hands on 'Inter, but also on the OM : “With the acquisition of Inter Milan, which adds to the potential acquisitions of the French team in Marseille, as well as an unknown leading Brazilian team, Saudi Arabia aims to become a major player in the international football ”. As announced by 10Sport.com, Frank McCourt is not a seller, but is still listening to proposals.
The PIF denies an imminent sale of the 'Inter
But in recent hours, several denials have emerged. The Italian journalist Nicolo Schira described as “fake news” the possible takeover of 'Inter by the Saudi investment fund, already owner of Newcastle. English journalist Ben Jacobs confirms the trend. Saudi sources, who spoke to him, say an imminent buyout of the Italian side is not on the agenda. What also call into question the proposed acquisition of the OM ?
