Borussia Dortmund suggests that it is still in the race to extend Erling Haaland. Analysis.
Asked by Sky Sport, the sports director of Borussia Dortmund Sebastian Kehl Speaking about the future of Erling Haaland: “The idea is that we meet in due time and sit around a table. We won't be announcing here when we do. What is clear is that we are trying to get some clarification. We are trying to convince Erling to continue playing at Dortmund and I think our chances are not that bad. I will not communicate the amount or the date in any way. What is certain is that we are on the spot. It would do the Bundesliga good if we kept him. The decision is up to Erling ”.
The context makes an extension unacceptable for Haaland…
Should we then fear an extension of Haaland at Borussia Dortmund ? On analysis, this appears unlikely. Beyond the position of the player, who for the moment wishes to leave the club at the end of the season, an element makes an extra time extremely unlikely: Haaland has an exit voucher for a transfer to 75 million this summer, a very interesting price considering his status and his age. If he prolongs Haaland with an XXL revaluation, the German club will logically blow up this exit voucher. Only Haaland has no interest in this because this release voucher guarantees that the outbidding between the buying clubs will be on his contract and not on the transfer.
