To launch its last summer transfer window, PSG made a big blow with Georginio Wijnaldum. An operation which today turns out to be a flop.

While PSG took advantage of the many deals on the transfer market with free players, this was notably the case with Georginio Wijnaldum. However, initially, the Dutchman, at the end of his contract at Liverpool , was not announced in Paris . He was indeed promised at FC Barcelona , where Ronald Koeman was waiting for him. Finally, the PSG turned everything upside down and ended up winning the bet. A reinforcement of choice for the club of the capital which needed new blood in the midfield. Wijnaldum was therefore eagerly awaited at the Parc des Princes, but the expectations were perhaps a little too high…

The disappointment

At PSG , we relied heavily on Georginio Wijnaldum to densify the midfield. But the truth on the ground was quite different. Indeed, when he was aligned, the Dutchman disappointed, even finding himself quickly on the sidelines of Mauricio Pochettino . So it was not what we expected for Wijnaldum and the experiment may even be over already. As early as this winter, the ex-Liverpool could leave. Rumors keep multiplying on this subject.
