The Ottawa Senators placed Nikita Zaitsev on the COVID protocol. The Russian defender will miss the NHL regular season match with the Los Angeles Kings.
Instead of Zaitsev, the Canadian club recruited 21-year-old Finnish defender Lassi Thomson, who had not previously played in the NHL.
On the eve it became known that the Senators put 8 hockey players in the COVID protocol.
Zaitsev in the current NHL season played 11 matches, in which he scored one goal.
