The National Hockey League has named three stars for the starting week of the 2021/22 regular season.
Los Angeles Kings forward Anzhe Kopitar was named the best player of the week with 7 points (4 + 3) in two matches.
The second star was the Russian Washington Capitals striker Alexander Ovechkin. He scored 3 goals and made 2 assists last week against the New York Rangers (5-1) and Tampa (1-2 OT). The 36-year-old also made it to the sole fifth place on the list of top scorers in league history, ahead of Marcel Dionne. Now the Russian has 733 goals in the NHL regular championships.
The third star of the week is Tampa striker Steven Stamkos, who has recorded 3 goals and 4 assists.
