New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz said he was pleased with the performance of Russian goalkeeper Ilya Sorokin in the NHL.
– Sorokin did an excellent job with the transition from the KHL to the NHL, since last season he has shown a high level of goalkeeper's skill. The last two years, Semyon Varlamov was the first number in the team, but now we want to evenly distribute the load on the goalkeepers, – said Trotz.
The Islanders are ninth in the Eastern Conference league table with 12 points in nine regular season games. In the next game, the New York team will play against Minnesota on November 8th.
Sorokin is 26 years old. In the current NHL season, the Russian played nine matches and won five victories.
