Toronto forward Jason Spezza has decided to challenge a six-game suspension for kneeing an opponent in a regular season match against Winnipeg. This was reported by the press service of the NHL.
The episode took place in the middle of the second period when Spezza played roughly against Winnipeg defender Neil Payonk. It is noteworthy that Pionc later received a two-legged suspension for a similar violation in the same match.
Also, Spezza will pay $ 22.5 thousand as a fine. The money will go to an emergency fund for players.
The forward this season took part in 26 regular season games, in which he scored 11 (7 + 4) points.
