Former Lokomotiv and Russian national football team midfielder Dmitry Tarasov supported Rangers hockey player Artemy Panarin, who stood up for Russia and threw a glove at Boston striker Brad Marchand.
– I want to publicly support Artemy Panarin. I, too, would not be silent if someone began to speak unflatteringly in my face about my country.
I am not surprised by the fine (once I was also fined for supporting my country by entering the field in a T-shirt with Putin), I am amazed that the fact that an athlete touches a foreign country in a negative context is ignored. “You are provoked, but you do not be provoked” – this is not about men's street concepts. It won't work with the enemy. Artemy, you acted like a real man, a worthy citizen of his country, who will not tolerate bad words about himself and his home. We are with you! And we are already used to double standards, – wrote Tarasov on Instagram.

According to the Washington Post, Marchand shouted insults at the Russian forward from the bench, and also noted that no Russian liked Panarin.
For throwing the glove, Panarin received a ten-minute fine, and was later fined five thousand dollars.
Panarin has played 23 games this season in the NHL and scored 26 points (7 goals, 19 assists) with a usefulness rating of “+7”.
- “Thanks to the Rangers for making me $ 11.6 million this season” – Panarin on the unsporting behavior penalty
- Boston forward Marchand, who insulted Panarin, is suspended for three matches
- Guberniev launched a flash mob #fromRussiawithGlove in support of Panarin, who was fined for throwing a glove at Marchand
