At the end of his contract with FC Barcelona, Ousmane Dembélé will be able to negotiate with the club of his choice from January 1 and therefore slip through the fingers of Xavi.
Barely arrived, Xavi is already facing a delicate issue with Ousmane Dembélé. The Frenchman is at the end of his contract and an agreement does not appear close at the moment, although his coach would like to keep him at FC Barcelona . “I had a one-on-one discussion with him, I made him understand how important he was to me, not only for this season but also for the future” explained very recently Xavi, who is however pressed for time. In precisely one month, Dembélé will indeed be able to negotiate freely with other clubs and Barça would therefore take the risk of losing him, without pocketing any transfer fees.
Dembélé dismisses the idea of a departure in January
In recent days, the Catalan press has suggested that FC Barcelona could decide to sell Ousmane Dembélé from the winter transfer window, in order to pocket a minimum of money. However, that does not seem to be the goal of the club … nor of the player! According to SPORT information, Dembélé would have told his leaders that he would not leave in January and that he will finish whatever the season happens to Barça. It remains to be seen if this will fix the plans of Xavi, who could be badly in need of money in the coming months.
