At the end of the contract next June, Ousmane Dembélé is still one of the hot topics of FC Barcelona. The Catalan club are expected to try one last time to find an agreement with the Frenchman and have set a deadline for his response.

For several months now, the contract extension of Ousmane Dembélé has been almost a priority in the eyes of Joan Laporta . The Habs international sees his commitment come to an end next June and for the moment, no common ground has been found despite multiple proposals from the Catalan management. The situation is starting to become urgent as from January 1 the 24-year-old will be free to negotiate with whomever he wishes. Especially since the last performance of FC Barcelona in the league (1-0 defeat against Real Betis ) has shown that the Catalan club need an attacking player of the quality of Ousmane Dembélé . As a result, Barça should make a final attempt to find an agreement with the player.

Barça will make a last attempt to extend Dembélé

As SPORT explains, the FC Barcelona should try to make a final offer to Ousmane Dembélé for his contract extension. Mateu Alemany , the Blaugrana side's sporting director, is said to be in almost constant contact with the 24-year-old winger. For his part, the 2018 world champion has repeatedly expressed his wish to want to extend his engagement with FC Barcelona , he who would consider himself one of the leaders of the project of Joan Laporta . However, his agent would be more attentive to offers from other suitors of Ousmane Dembélé such as Manchester United , Chelsea , Juventus , Bayern Munich or even Tottenham . Nevertheless, despite the big difference between what Barça intends to offer and what the Habs international receives from other foreign clubs, Catalan management would hope to reach an agreement during the month of December.

The Barça want an answer before January

Indeed, still according to the Spanish media, FC Barcelona would wait for a response before December 31. After this deadline, the Blaugrana will consider that Ousmane Dembélé wants to leave Barca and should possibly stop offering him extension offers. The main problem in the negotiations would lie in the fixed salary claimed by the player. FC Barcelona would suggest that he keep his current salary in the event of an extension of his appointment, while accompanying his new contract with a few bonuses in the event of his objectives being met. If he manages to accomplish them all, Ousmane Dembélé would become the highest paid player in the Xavi squad. But the Habs international has reportedly received several offers with an astronomical salary and therefore does not want to talk about variables in his potential new contract with FC Barcelona . It remains to be seen what decision Ousmane Dembélé will take by the end of December. To be continued.
