With Lionel Messi gone, FC Barcelona has decided to hand number 10 to Ansu Fati, who recently extended his contract until June 2027.

< p>He is one of the pillars on which Joan Laporta wants to build his new FC Barcelona . At only 18 years old, Ansu Fati became the big star of the Catalan club after the departure of Lionel Messi to Barça . He inherited his number 10 and after a long absence due to injury he celebrated his comeback with a goal against Levante (3-0)… and with a new big contract! Barça recently announced that they had reached an agreement to extend Fati until 2027, with an astronomical departure clause set at one billion euros.

Jorge Mendes' Machiavellian plan

There would not be only the clause which would be astronomical, in the new contract of Ansu Fati . According to information from El Confidencial, Jorge Mendes tried to get the most money out of Joan Laporta, using several strong arguments. The first would have been Philippe Coutinho, who earns nearly 23M € per year at Barça and who plays very little. So, if the Brazilian has such a salary, the new number 10 of FC Barcelona deserves much better! El Confidencial explains that Laporta would have tried to make Mendes understand that the situation of the club did not really allow him to make great efforts, but he finally had to comply with his demands of the Fati clan.
