While he officially made his return to FC Barcelona at the end of last week, Xavi could have known a very different fate.
Many observers believed that Xavi’s fate was to become the coach of FC Barcelona after being a mainstay in the 2000s and the early part of the last decade. This fate is now fulfilled since the one who until then occupied the bench of Al-Sadd has officially taken over from Ronald Koeman in the coach costume of Barça by initialing a contract until June 2024. But the story could have been very different insofar as Xavi explained that he could have joined Brazil in the past.

“Yes, it's true that I have talked with Brazil. The idea was to help Tite and catch up with the team after the World Cup. My desire was to come to Barça. I feel ready, with a lot of confidence. I feel it's time, ” Xavi explained in remarks reported by Mundo Deportivo.
