While one of Jorge Sampaoli's first decisions at OM was to put Steve Mandanda in competition, this is not the first time that the Argentine has made this choice.

This summer, Jorge Sampaoli set a clear goal for Pablo Longoria , namely recruiting a new goalkeeper. And not only to replace Yohann Pelé whose contract was about to expire, but also to compete with Steve Mandanda . And for good reason, the Argentinian technician absolutely wanted a goalkeeper with excellent kicking skills, which is not the strong point of the French international. With this in mind, Pau Lopez landed in the form of a loan from AS Roma and seems to have taken over Steve Mandanda. But if this choice surprised at OM given the importance of the former Le Havre, connoisseurs of Jorge Sampaoli are less surprised.

< h2> This is not the first time that Sampaoli has called for a new goalkeeper

Contacted by So Foot, the Brazilian journalist Caique Stiva reveals that upon arriving at Santos , Jorge Sampaoli had already requested a new goalkeeper: “As soon as he arrived, Sampaoli asked for a new goalkeeper because whoever was there could not play with his feet. They took on a new goalkeeper to initiate the actions with short play, and the defenders also had to integrate this philosophy. This is how Everson landed at Santos in 2019 before joining … Jorge Sampaoli at Atlético Mineiro in 2020. The Argentinian technician has therefore kept his good habits by attracting a new goalkeeper to OM this summer.
