The strategy adopted by the owners of Paris Saint-Germain with Kylian Mbappé does not seem to have really worked. The 22-year-old star is indeed approaching the end of his contract with PSG and an extension does not appear to be on the agenda at all.

In exactly 42 days, Kylian Mbappé will be free to negotiate with the club of his choice. The Paris Saint-Germain, who invested no less than € 180m in 2017, could therefore see one of the biggest players in his squad spinning for free … a catastrophic scenario, even for a club with unlimited means. And it is not the various outings of Leonardo and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi that will change anything. Indeed, PSG showed its teeth this summer, refusing several offers from Real Madrid and emerging somewhere grown from this standoff. But what will it have been used for, since Mbappé does not seem to want to extend and will therefore inevitably escape the PSG ? The club will lose a lot of money there, but its image will also take a big hit, just a few months away from a World Cup in Qatar which was to be the perfect setting for the stars of Paris Saint-Germain.

“There is a madness of clubs which belong to States and which do not sell you the players”

Count on Florentino Pérez to stir the knife in the wound. In a recent meeting held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the president of Real Madrid returned to the summer soap opera of Kylian Mbappé, slipping a tackle at Paris Saint-Germain in passing. “Now you give 200 million and they don't sell it to you,” Pérez said, according to MARCA. “There is a madness of clubs which belong to states and which do not sell you the players”. This amount of 200M € has never been confirmed, while the French media had stopped at around 180M €, but it remains problematic nonetheless. With these 200M € the PSG would not only have made a capital gain on Mbappé, but would also have landed a record sum for a player at the end of his contract and could have quickly reinvested this sum in the transfer market.

The 200M € revenge of Real Madrid

Il Corriere dello Sport believes this Friday that the Qatari owners of Paris Saint-Germain will regret having refused this offer. According to reports from the Italian daily, Real Madrid could indeed reuse them next summer, to outclass the competition and in particular that of those club-states denounced by Florentino Pérez . The latter could therefore not only snatch Kylian Mbappé from PSG, but also recruit the one that Qatar sees as his great successor! We have indeed revealed to you on le10sport.com that the Parisians are eyeing Erling Haaland. However, the prodigy of Borussia Dortmund would also be a priority for Real Madrid, willing to spend lavishly to have it. Il Corriere is therefore talking about a clause that could range from 75 to 90M €, plus a commission of 30M € for his agent Mino Raiola, as well as a very nice bonus for the attacker as well as his entourage. Meanwhile, Qatar will find itself without Mbappé, without the 200M € of Real Madrid … and potentially without Haaland.
