Ovechkin returns to sole leader of the NHL sniper race

Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin scored his 11th goal of the season in an NHL regular season match with the Buffalo Sabers (5-3).

The Russian forward returned to first place in the sniper race. At the moment, Ovechkin is one goal ahead of Leon Dreiseitl (10 goals) and two goals ahead of Tyler Bertuzzi (9).

Alexander, with the 741st puck in his overseas career, became one of the four best snipers in history, equal to the NHL legend Brett Hull.

Wayne Gretzky holds the record for goals in the NHL (894).
