Ubisoft has unveiled the Quartz platform, through which the company plans to sell in-game items in non-fungible token format (NFT). The video with the announcement was posted on YouTube.
The Quartz platform will sell unique and numbered cosmetic items for Ubisoft games called digits. They will first appear in Ghost Recon Breakpoint as masks, helmets, and weapon skins. The first digits will be given out for free, later these items can be sold and bought on Quartz.
Netizens criticized Ubisoft's initiative. At the time of publication of the material, the announcement video has 720 likes and more than 13 thousand dislikes. Most commentators accused the company of being greedy and called the innovation pointless, since there was no need for an NFT to implement it.
