Arrived in the last moments of the last summer transfer window, Luuk de Jong would probably not have joined FC Barcelona without the presence of Ronald Koeman. The latter would have strongly insisted on the arrival of the Dutch striker.

Last summer, FC Barcelona experienced a very agitated transfer window. In the grip of big financial problems, the club culé found itself in particular in the obligation to separate from Lionel Messi . For his recruitment, Joan Laporta therefore had to be smart by enlisting the services of free players such as Sergio Agüero , Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay . In addition, before the transfer market closed its doors, Barça registered the loan with option to buy Luuk de Jong , from Sevilla FC . However, the arrival of the Dutch striker would have been only the wish of Ronald Koeman

Koeman demanded Luuk de Jong after the departure of Griezmann

According to information from the Madrid daily AS, the recruitment of Luuk de Jong to FC Barcelona would have been a concession by Joan Laporta made to Ronald Koeman . The latter would indeed have expressly requested the arrival of the 31-year-old striker when he learned of the departure of Antoine Griezmann from Atlético de Madrid . For its part, the sports management of Barça would claim to have no connection with the arrival of Luuk de Jong .
