Manchester City and Spain player Ferran Torres seems to be Xavi’s top priority, but things are not going quite as planned.
As FC Barcelona is going through a very delicate period, an effort could be made to support Xavi, who arrived only a few weeks ago to replace Ronald Koeman. This would concern in particular Ferran Torres, who is announced by the Catalan press as the great demand Xavi to its leaders. The Spanish winger is however expensive, since the amount of 70M € was recently mentioned. Unthinkable for Barça, who would still have instructed the executive director Mateu Alemany to negotiate directly with Manchester City in order to find an agreement, even if an arrival in January seems more and more complicated.
Ferran Torres, more for this summer?
According to reports from Sport, this file should drag on. Manchester City would indeed have claimed by less than 80M € to let go of Ferran Torres, while FC Barcelona would not be willing to go beyond 50M €. The Spanish daily explains that negotiations should continue, but that would therefore move the arrival of Torres to the next summer transfer window. Barça will indeed have time to find a compromise with City, but also to find the necessary money by selling one or more players.
