Now relegated to the status of luxury understudy at OM behind Pau Lopez, Steve Mandanda could not go on forever within the Marseille club if his situation no longer evolves.

Jorge Sampaoli , who wanted to impose a first choice competitor on him, brought in Pau Lopez this summer from AS Roma, and it is the Spanish doorman who has been in the cage for more than a month at the 'OM : “Pau played good games. There is healthy competition, it will be the same as a fielder because both play well by my criteria. When we find the real Mandanda, he will once again be the backbone of our team. Only two solutions seem to be necessary today for the French international, whose contract runs until 2024 with OM : accept this role of understudy behind Pau Lopez in the hope of being able to grab more playing time in the future, or else consider soon a departure from his heart club. A decision that will inevitably be difficult to make, but which could allow Steve Mandanda to end his career on a high note rather than as a simple luxury replacement.
