During the last summer transfer window, Pablo Longoria recruited a dozen players to expand the workforce of Jorge Sampaoli. Among these reinforcements, Konrad de la Fuente and Gerson do not yet give full satisfaction to the OM coach. While the two young talents are struggling to acclimatize in Marseille, Jorge Sampaoli wanted to send them a message at a press conference on Wednesday.
To best satisfy Jorge Sampaoli, Pablo Longoria hit hard during the last summer transfer window. Indeed, the president of the OM has recruited a dozen players to make the Argentinian squad as competitive as possible. Specifically, Pablo Longoria attracted both Amine Harit, William Saliba, Luan Perez, Pau Lopez, Matteo Guendouzi, Cengiz Under, Pol Lirola, Leonardo Balerdi, Gerson and Konrad de la Fuente. Despite this rain of recruits, OM does not demerit in accounting terms in Ligue 1 (currently third with a match less). However, some reinforcements are struggling to adapt to the OM and to evolve at their highest level for the moment. This is the case for example of Konrad de la Fuente and Gerson. Present at a press conference this Wednesday afternoon, Jorge Sampaoli was asked about these two players . And he did not fail to send them a strong message.
“We are waiting for him to do more overflows and assists”
Regarding Konrad de la Fuente, Jorge Sampaoli gave him the keys to be able to satisfy him and perform well in the field. “He is a player who has a lot of talent, but who is also very young. The club has made an investment for the future. There are a lot of variations in his performance because of his youth. We expect him to make more overflows and assists. When Under wasn't there, we couldn't find that, ”said the OM coach.
“In Brazil, he was flying over the championship physically, there it is more difficult”
For his part, Gerson received a different message from Jorge Sampaoli . Indeed, the technician of the OM preferred to encourage his midfielder, stressing the fact that it was difficult to adapt to the League 1 when we arrived from Brazil. “I think it's more a problem of process of the mentality of each player, because he has been training the same since the start. He is starting to feel better in the field. We see him happier too. In Brazil, he was flying over the championship physically, there it is more difficult. He begins to understand all of this, to know what to do. I talk to him a lot. He's a talented player, he has to show it on the pitch. He's better at duels. When you come from the Brazilian championship, you need a quick adaptation otherwise you can dive quickly, ”explained Jorge Sampaoli.
