While the recruitment of PSG during the last summer transfer window focused on players free of any contract, everything indicates that this way of proceeding could be made to last.

Used to spending crazy sums in the transfer market, Paris Saint-Germain were measured in this area during the last summer transfer window, despite many arrivals. Leonardo has concentrated on free arrivals with a view to strengthening the squad coached by Mauricio Pochettino . It is within this framework that were recruited Georginio Wijnaldum , Sergio Ramos , Gianluigi Donnarumma and Leo Messi . Thus, the only player to have been bought in the literal sense of the word was Achraf Hakimi , while Nuno Mendes arrived from Sporting under a paying loan of € 7 million with a purchase option of € 40 million. This technique allowed PSG to recruit massively without fear of any reprisals for financial fair play which was alleviated this summer due to the passage of the Covid-19 pandemic. And obviously, this way of working could well become a standard for Leonardo .

PSG is concentrating its efforts on free players

Indeed, in the prospect of once again strengthening its midfield, PSG has been announced in the footsteps of many players. And all have one thing in common: they will be free at the end of the season. This is particularly the case of Paul Pogba which, according to information released by ESPN on Thursday, will indeed take the lead in a free departure from Manchester United on June 30. The same would apply to Franck Kessié according to many echoes from Italy, the negotiations for the extension of his contract at AC Milan seeming to be deadlocked. At the same time, PSG was succinctly announced in the footsteps of Marco Brozovic , although a contract extension at Inter does not yet seem to be totally ruled out. Finally, the latest target in this register is Corentin Tolisso . At the end of the contract on June 30 at Bayern Munich , the former Lyon player would be courted by several teams while an extension of his lease would now be a ruled out scenario . Thus, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, PSG , Inter and Juventus would be interested in the prospect of recruiting him during the summer transfer window 2022. It remains to be seen which of these players will end up being recruited in front of a concrete target for the residents of the Parc des Princes . But the strategy of PSG in terms of recruitment now has the merit of being clear in this sector after the free entry of Georginio Wijnaldum last July.
