Forward of the Washington Capitals NHL club Alexander Ovechkin spoke about the admission of NHL players to participate in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Earlier, the NHL allowed its hockey players to take part in the 2022 Olympics.
– I am very happy. It is a great honor to participate in the Olympic Games, represent the country, play against the best hockey players in the world, fight for the gold medal. Everyone has the same chances, I hope we will be able to go down in history. Let's see. It looks like this is my last chance, which means that we need to work, we must win through tactics, physical fitness and so on, – said Ovechkin.
Recall that the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang were held without the participation of NHL players due to disagreements over player insurance and the unwillingness of club owners to interrupt the regular season.
The Beijing Games will be held from February 4 to February 20, 2022.
